Job Description

Position Summary

CrossWinds Church of Christ in Three Way, TN, is seeking a full-time Youth Minister to lead and nurture the spiritual growth of our youth (grades 6–12). This individual will be responsible for developing and overseeing all aspects of the youth ministry, including weekly programming, spiritual development, discipleship, and outreach. The ideal candidate will inspire, engage, and mentor our youth while fostering strong relationships with parents and church leadership to help the youth live out their faith in Christ.

Key Responsibilities

Spiritual Leadership:

Provide biblical teaching and spiritual guidance to middle and high school students, helping them grow in their relationship with Christ. Encourage youth to live out their faith in everyday life.

Family Ministry:

Develop and implement strategies to engage parents and caregivers in the spiritual formation of their children. Provide resources, training, and support for parents to help them nurture faith at home. Plan events that encourage family involvement and spiritual growth, such as family worship nights, seminars, and family retreats.

Programming and Events:

Plan, organize, and lead Bible studies and small group discussions. Coordinate special events, retreats, camps, mission trips, VBS, and outreach projects that encourage spiritual growth and community involvement.

Discipleship and Mentorship:

Develop relationships and mentor students. Encourage students to serve in various capacities within the church and community.

Parent Engagement:

Communicate regularly with parents, providing support, resources, and updates about youth ministry activities. Equip parents to foster spiritual development at home. Maintain relationships with future youth group member parents and coordinate family and younger youth events as needed.

Collaboration with Church Leadership:

Work closely with the elders, deacons and other church staff to integrate the youth ministry into the broader church vision and mission. Attend staff meetings and collaborate on church wide initiatives. Conduct Sunday morning sermons and Wednesday night devotionals as needed.

Community Outreach:

Engage with local schools and community organizations to build relationships and create opportunities for outreach and service. Be a visible presence at community events, fostering connections between the church and the surrounding community. Attend youth group members’ student events.

Communications:

Manage youth churchwide communications to ensure effective and timely dissemination of information. Maintain the church’s youth-related social media platforms, website, and email newsletters, ensuring they are up-to-date and engaging. Design graphics and promotional materials for youth events and other ministries as needed.

Content Creation:

Collaborate with members to create and distribute content that highlights the work of the church. Develop clear, engaging messaging for youth events, worship services, and church wide initiatives.

Administrative Responsibilities:

Manage the youth ministry budget, and maintain records of events, attendance, and participation. Ensure effective communication with youth, parents, and members through social media, email, and other platforms.

Qualifications:

  • A deep and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to the teachings of the Bible.
  • Bachelor’s degree in youth ministry, Bible, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Prior experience in youth ministry leadership, with a strong passion for working with middle and high school students.
  • Ability to teach and communicate biblical truths in an engaging, relatable way.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with youth, parents, and church leadership.
  • Team-oriented with a heart for serving others.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, events, and members.
  • Proficiency in using social media and digital communication tools to engage with youth and families.
  • A commitment to the beliefs and practices of the Church of Christ.
  • Cleared background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience planning and leading youth mission trips, retreats, and camps.
  • Experience leading worship for youth services.
  • Experience with Lads to Leaders and VBS.
  • Married candidate that demonstrates a Christ-centered family life.

Work Environment

Schedule:

This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate youth events, retreats, mission trips, and church services. Expected to maintain a forty-hour work week with designated office hours.

Compensation:

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
